sing with me: much in the same vein of the mannheim house sound made popular by artists like johnny d, nick curly, christian burkhardt etc. bretts gives us a deep but driving track centered around an african boy singing. brett chops the sample up to create a choir of ethereal voices to support the boys singing. as the track progresses it takes a left turn into weirdville through some dramatic synth tweaks & sweeps. this track is perfect for anyone who likes to dance standing up, with their head down and first firmly in the air. speaking japanese: many people will tell you learning to speak japanese is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and theyre right. lucky for you, brett has done all the work by translating his message into sound. the core inspiration for this track is based on a sample from a song by get physical owner and artist mandy. they were kind enough to let brett use the sample and run wild with it. the result is 8 minutes and 12 seconds of over driven 909s, rolling bass lines and a pad so thick you need a fork to eat it. all of this keeps the calm while frantic chatter and out of this world fxs take you to a japanese after party somewhere in shibuya.

jun kamoda is a producer, dj and mc from tokyo. new to the label but a friend of the party, jun came to mister sunday in nyc last year and ended up hanging around for a few days afterward, digging for records and sharing bowls of spaghetti with the boys. when he returned to japan, he got to working on the music we now present to you on the clay ep. this is jun blending loopy, psychedelic disco stylings with chugging drum work for three party-ready cuts. theyve been chopping up our dance floors months we�re excited to hear them do the same to yours.

that night, we answered a regular call, something about crazy loud noises coming out from a basement. while driving to the area all i could think when i first heard the bass stomping was: �man, whatever, this doesn t even sound like music to me.� and we were at least a 100 meter away from the source of the sound. when we got there, after knocking several times on the door, we decided we had more than enough probable causes to bust in. after a warning, we kicked the door open. what we saw inside was a five feet tall woman jumping around in that cacophony. we screamed and she ignored us, my colleague then panicked and shot her with his taser several times � she then simply pulled the probes out of her body shouting moments moments � and continued to jump around..

new emmanuel top label. lost in berlin is a mechanical angry monster with multiple arms that swings around for destruction. it�s unstoppable for words, you have to accept the fact that you have been hit by a concrete wall. what i love in records is the menace inside it that builds up. the impossible energy that drags you in to this tunnel of a white dimension with grey electric colors. bipolaire: it all starts with a kick, not a simple kick but a et kick and before you know it you are struck by lightning. the subs are playing with you, simple but again with atomic temperature. the acid sound that hits you is never going to surrender his inferior temper. capture: only that words remind me of the spirit capture and it�s not easy make an equivalent of the original that is not even made with the inspiration of the mod wheel. it�s not just a wicked intro that can take you to different roads. you can decide what way you will take but be careful with what comes next.

one of the founding members of apollonia, shonky was responsible for his label�s very first release back in 2012 with �the minneapolis touch�. outside of working on the trio�s debut lp �tour a tour�, shonky has been relatively quiet on the solo tip. here on apollonia�s 25th release we�re treated to four new cuts from the berlin-based parisian, kicking off with plombie&#768,,re (plumber in english). shonky injects a variety of unusual sounds, which revolve around a jaunty bassline, while voices dip in and out of the background, repeating the mantra �house music� together with other difficult to decipher vocal clips. the track has a catchy rhythm that bounces along with aplomb. up next �house me� is a sleazy, mischievous cut with a deadly low end and a seductive vocal that urges you to �house me�. as the bassline rumbles, high pitched effects add a hypnotic element to the track. badboy business.on the b-side we have �perchee�, which is powered by cleverly layered percussion, which is almost �live� sounding. another one of those �shonky� basslines gets us straight into the groove, with utterly contagious beats � this is one to shake the dance floor down its core. finally, �cosmopolis� has that inner city realness flowing through with the chatter of a street corner in the background, a killer b-line and one of those classic vocal samples that is oh so familiar and gets you nodding your head as soon as you hear it. and there it is, four dance floor cuts with plenty of depth and groove in true shonky style� c est formidable!

music is about discourse: it�s about ideas, about the intellectual project. anyone can build a �beat�, but not everybody can produce an interesting argument for it. this implies the idea of romanticism as a notion of tradition and respect for certain rules. romanticism understood as virtuosity in the manipulation of art production tools. virtuosi of their own methodology. certain pedigree of virtuosity is definitely needed�but in many regards it also remains an extremely conventional formalism, which is at the core of every artist. it doesn�t matter if you have to piss around in the subterranean electronic music trenches for over two decades. a true pioneer simply has to live with that sort of dichotomy. here there are two good examples.

basil & rogers is a sleazy, california disco duo made up of heru (dj) johnny basil and body rogers. basil, a multi-instrumentalist, long-time record collector, and energy healer is a man that s been making music for a long time under many different guises and in many different styles. heru avenger (acid/psych rock), non stop (electronic/free jazz), baast (kraut rock/jazz funk), and kandi jones (slut rock) are just a few of his projects, past and present. most of this music has been around for the entirety of the 90 s and 2000 s without being heard because despite basil s outspoken appearance (described by many as looking like iggy pop s twin brother and would never be caught wearing a t-shirt no matter the location) he s very quiet about his musical output. body rogers is also part of the non stop group and is a master of electronics and engineering. on the basil & rogers project the two have made a disco 12- that is influenced by classic-era dance music while still being completely unique and far from conforming. it s crazy, it s sexy, and it s sleazy. tune in .

great debut release and new label from a rubadub shop regular featuring tracks from shop regulars. tip. this first release is made up of 3 tracks from my friends and 1 from myself. there�s no concept here other than putting out music that was otherwise not going to see the light of day. the first track is by bleaker who put out a 12inch on unknown to the unknown last year, the second by miz aka big miz whos been putting out music on dixon avenue basement jams, the third by the burrell connection who has a release on west end communications and a track on a craig knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on big mizs boiler room set. these tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. bleaker, miz and the burrell connection have all been making waves in scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. and i dont think my track is too bad either.

zum 25ten label-jubiläum veröffentlicht fat possum ausgesuchte titel aus dem backkatalog erstmal auf vinyl so auch the george mitchell colelction von houston stackhouse. es ist george mitchell zu verdanken, dass viele klassische blues-aufnahmen entstanden und bis heute archiviert und verbreitet werden. ab 1976 arbeitete mitchell für das bureau of cultural affairs in atlanta, und er begann das land zu bereisen, um folk und blues-musik systematisch mit einem mobilen aufnahmegerät einzufangen und zu dokumentieren. diese arbeit betrieb er über eine dekade, und durch seinen persönlichen einsatz sind klassische blues-alben wie dieses von houston stackhouse und seinen befreundeten musikern entstanden. stackhouse spielte als erstes instrument die mundharmonika, und seit den 30er jahren spielte er in mississippi gemeinsam mit größen wie robert johnson. später verlegte er sich vornehmlich auf slide- und elektrische-gitarre. so spielte er in der folge auch mit muddy waters, little walter, jimmy rogers, roosevelt sykes und earl hooker.
